Walking in nature is a form of medication!

Walking in the woods is a remedy

In these days, a small revolution is taking place in Scotland: a group of doctors, members of the “Prescription Nature” program, will begin to outline their patients for outdoor hiking and outdoor experiences. This is not a free initiative, but a program run by the National Health Service (NHS). These requirements will not replace traditional therapies but will join them.

All doctors know that the practice of good habits in a systematic manner, such as regular physical activity, improves the well-being and health of people.

The concept of experiencing nature goes beyond pure physical exercise. The naturalist component, in fact, is a fundamental part of the therapy, because the addition of relaxation brings great improvement to the mental state of the patients.

It’s a small revolution: knowing the therapeutic effect of making 5000 steps in the forest means paving the way for new educational programs.

Why restrict yourself to walk in the green just to get treatment, when you could do it for preventive purposes?

In a sense, the Natural Prescription Program values all the pedagogical theses of nature (found by Maria Montessori).

So what are we waiting for ? Let’s start walking in the green! While waiting for these initiatives to be held in Albania, no one prevents us from moving further and seeking contact with nature. And remember that outdoor in nature is good for kids, even in the cold.
